"Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee"
The Chattahoochee River is just enjoyable and fun as songwriters and poets
have describe that great flow. What starts as just a mountain
trickle in the Blue Ridge hills of North Georgia becomes a wide flowing
force of life when it reaches southwest Georgia. Along this wide
river is several landings where a exploring fisherman can find a great
spot for angling.
Here is a list of landings along the
Chattahoochee River in southwest Georgia:
- Early County - George
W. Andrews Dam To reach George W. Andrews Dam
take State Road 62 west from Blakely for 12 miles then turn right
onto Lower River Road (County Road and travel 3 miles. The
road entrance to the dam will be on the right.
- Early County - Fannie Williams Park - Coheelee Creek To reach the landing take
State Road 62 west from Blakely for 10 miles to Old River Road
(County Road 80). Turn left onto Old River Road. Fannie
Williams Park Landing is 2 miles north on the left. This
park includes the added attraction of the Coheelee Creek Covered
Bridge built in 1891
- Early County - Odom
Creek Road Landing To reach the landing take State Road 62
west from Blakely for 10 miles to Old River Road (County Road
80). Turn left onto Old River Road. Odom Creek Landing
is 8 miles north on the
left.
- Seminole County -
Georgia Highway 91 at Florida state line To reach the
landing at the Florida state line, travel 8 miles south from Donalsonville
on Georgia Highway 91. The landing is just across
the river into Florida on the left side.
- Seminole County -
Desser Landing To reach the landing at the Florida
state line, travel 7 miles south from Donalsonville on State Road 91
to State Road 285 then turn left. Travel south for 7 miles and
Desser Landing Road will be on the right.
- Seminole County -
Henry Cummings Landing To reach Cummings Landing travel
south from Donalsonville on State Road 39 for 18 miles all the way
to the end of the road.
- Seminole County -
Mildred Cummings Landing To reach Cummings Landing travel
south from Donalsonville on State Road 39 for 18 miles all the way
to the end.
- Seminole County -
Sealys Landing To reach Sealys Landing travel south
from Donalsonville on State Road 39 for 7 miles then left onto State
Road 374. Continue to travel south for 11 miles to the end.
For lodging there are camping facilities at
Kolomoki Mounds State Park and Seminole State Park. Also motel
lodging is available in Blakely and Donalsonville.
