Lake Blackshear is a 7,000 acre reservoir managed by the
Army Corps of Engineers. The lake is an excellent fishing spot for the avid sportsman or for those looking for to
catch dinner. The lake is primarily stocked with bass, crappie, catfish, and bream. The lake has great landing
facilities at Georgia Veterans State Park on U. S. 280 and at Johnny Smoak Bridge on Georgia 300. Camping sites and
cottages are available at reasonable prices are available for overnight stays at Georgia Veterans State Park. Other
amenities present at Lake Blackshear are an 18 hole golf course, a conference retreat center, and swimming pool and beach.
Also Georgia Veterans Park includes a museum to celebrate American veterans and their contribution. The displays represent
each conflict from the Revolutionary War to the Gulf War.

Driving directions
Lake Blackshear can be accessed at two locations. You can reach Lake Blackshear
by going to Georgia Veterans Park. The park is located on U. S. 280 9 miles east of Cordele. To get there from Interstate 75,
take Exit 101 on to U. S. 280 through Cordele.
Another location that provide access to Lake Blackshear is the area at Johnny
Smoak Bridge on Georgia 300. The area has landings for boaters at the bridge and at the dam. To get there, take Exit 99 off
Interstate 75 on to Georgia 300 (Georgia Florida Parkway). The bridge is 12 miles from Exit 99. The lake at this point forms
the boundary between Crisp and Worth counties.
